Healing Qi Gong: Evidence-based Art of Energy Medicine
Mind-body practices that elicit the self healing response such as Qigong have been used as traditional Eastern medicine
to treat mental disorders and physical maladies for millennium. Qigong therapeutic and healing effects can be seen as a purely physiological function. Qigong therapy uses mindfulness and deep breathing as well as gentle changes in body movements and body posture to produce deep relaxation and self healing.
The Mind/Body Interaction
One of the most dramatic recent breakthroughs in the physiological– biochemical health domain is the effect of the mind, mediated through the nervous system to influence function of the immune, endocrine and other systems. Positive psychology using meditation and visualization can relax the body to produce healthy functioning and restore resilience.
Deepening the Breath
We know that deepening the breath accelerates the flow of lymphatic fluid and relaxes the nervous system. Relaxing shifts the brain wave frequency toward the theta state, the level of brain activity associated with the natural self repair capacity. Relaxing also shifts the neurotransmitter profile out of the stress (adrenaline) mode, which actually stalls healing, to the self healing mode with heart rate slowing down.
Adjusting the body’s posture fosters optimal circulation of fluids in all of the circulatory systems including the blood, lymph, and cerebrospinal fluid.
Moving the body gently pumps the fluids and mildly accelerates metabolic function. These are all very well known and fully researched physiological mechanisms that are triggered by Qigong practice.
Movement, breath and relaxation very quickly shift the human system toward physiological coherence and holistic health when the mind’s positive intention and focus are present. Wisdom Heart Qigong when practice regularly produces a peaceful mind and harmonious body and act as a self care tool and for health promotion. The physiological regulatory changes can be felt as body heat, increased electrical sensations, enhanced flow of blood and its circulation, and emission of cellular light (bi-photons). These reflect bodily changes are indicative of biological healing that are happening during the Qi Gong practice.
I live my life in widening circles that
reach out across the world.
Make your ego porous
Will is of little importance, complaining is nothing,
fame is nothing.
Openness, patience, receptivity, solitude is everything
